Sula Riesling & Zinfandel Tasting
In India, where whiskey is the alcoholic drink
of choice and teetotalers exist by the legions, a wine culture has been almost
nonexistent until the deep green rolling hills of Nashik finally changed that
perception (The New York Times). Sula Vineyards has played a pivotal role for
the wine boom in India. Not only has it created an awareness amongst the Indians
regarding wine culture, but also made wine tourism popular in the country by introducing attractive tasting rooms, restaurants and accommodations.
In the various activities hosted by the wine Industry, my personal favourite is the wine tasting experience designed by every brand for its customers.
While conducting a wine tasting event, it is very important to build an impact through various aspects such as – the storing and pouring of wine, the
accompaniments that are paired with different wines, the curation and flow of event, and so on. As a taster one must observe all of the above while keeping in mind the 5 S’s of wine tasting: See –
Swirl – Sniff – Sip – Savor! These simple steps make wine tasting a rewarding
and memorable process.
We must always give priority to the fact that wine
tasting is more of an art that excites one’s senses rather than just any other
event and certain brands like Sula understand this the best. I am acknowleding this after
attending a personalised wine tasting event held at Pali Village Cafe by team
Sula. I tried two of their most popular wines – the Sula Riesling (white) and
the Sula Zinfandel (blush).
The Riesling, enjoyed best chilled, is a fruity wine that is pretty light and drinkable. A combination of green apples, grapefruit and peaches with hints of honey, one would totally enjoy this wine on a summer afternoon on breezy brunches. One of the reasons this wine is highly consumed in India is because of its distinct finishing taste and its great pairing with Indian cuisine.

The Rosé revolution continues
with an increased awareness of how delicious and refreshing these wines are. This wine has been the first ever Zinfandel in India! Ranked second for the number of awards won, the Sula
Zinfandel rosé is a cheerful and versatile wine with a charming blush hue. It
dwells the aromas of cranberries and fresh strawberries and can be enjoyed for
picnics (stay-cation) and barbeque nights.
Both these modern and trendy wines have been my
all time favourite because of their light and refreshing nature. They go easy
on you and can be accompanied with almost everything – from cheese and cracker platters to salads and tikkas. If you are trying these for the first time, get ready to be
a regular customer of Sula’s Riesling and Zinfandel Rosé.
