The Tasting Room

Skater Dress: Vero Moda, Pastel Yellow

After having a good time at the ELLE Beauty Circus, my friends and I headed for a quiet dinner at The Tasting Room. Situated at Raghuvanshi Mills, it is located on the veranda at the upper level of the sustainable, luxury, retail brand, Goodearth. Inspired by Goodearth’s contemporary designs of mirrors, candelabras, silk cushions and fashionable furnishings; this plant-filled place is perfect for a cosy dining affair.

The décor is tastefully done with vibrant colours and is distinguished across every square inch. Popular for its delightful high-tea experience, The Tasting Room delivers superior quality food with elan. Despite wine being the only alcohol on the list, the exhaustive selection of wine and a separate wine cocktails menu, adds on to the uniqueness of this place.

We seated ourselves on a table right across the bar and glanced at the European menu.  We were then served their complimentary assorted breads. Right after, we called for their signature Marinated Watermelon layered with Feta (480) in the salads, along with Cranberry Cooler (140) and Virgin Margarita (160) in the coolers. The Watermelon with Feta was delectable, just as promised and tasted excellent with the pine nuts and the  balsamic glaze. The Cranberry Cooler was good enough, with the tangy taste of cranberry with a good hint of lime. The Virgin Margarita was okay, it had a poor blend of kiwi, muskmelon and plum and lots of ice.

Followed by this we called for the Smoked Scarmorza Polenta Sticks with tomato salsa and parmesan fondue(250) and Chicken Skewers(300) and some mash potato(90). The Polenta Sticks were satisfying; crisp on the outside and soft parmesan within. The Chicken Skewers were well cooked and flavourful and served with the sweet, spicy, chilli puree, that added the required dash of spice.

Among the Mains we ordered for the Seared Fillet of Basa(450), Cajun spiked Chicken Burger with Cheddar melt(340) and Wild, dried and fresh Mushroom Risotto(390). The fish was presented with the potato mash and spicy bhavnagri chilli cream; and was succulent. The Mushroom Risotto too was nice and creamy, but the Burger slightly lacked perfection and could be much better.

Overall we had a long pleasant dinner, which was long due to the really slow service. They literally took 45 minutes to serve the Main course. The crowded Sunday could be blamed for it. The dishes were served in small proportions, considering they were the tasting plates. The rich quality of food, however,  made up for all of it. With a breath taking ambience, The Tasting Room is very inviting.

Things to look forward to: Ambience, Décor, Watermelon with Feta,  Chicken Skewers, Seared Fillet of Basa, Mushroom Risotto, Traditional afternoon Tea and Wines!
